Translink Corporate Finance has announced the promotion of Matt Scott to Partner.
Matt’s promotion comes just three months after Yorkshire-based BHP Corporate Finance and Midlands-based IMA Corporate Finance both rebranded to Translink Corporate Finance.
Based at the firm’s Sheffield office, Matt has more than 15 years of mid-market experience across numerous sectors including TMT, logistics, manufacturing, and business services.
As Partner, Matt will continue to work closely with the other 300 Translink Corporate Finance colleagues to support existing and prospective clients to achieve their personal and strategic objectives. With a wealth of expertise working in M&A, Matt is a trusted and highly experienced member of the Translink team.
Matt said: “It’s a real honour to have been promoted to Partner, especially at such a busy and exciting time for the firm. Joining the Partner group is a major milestone in my career and it’s fantastic to receive recognition for my contribution since joining BHP Corporate Finance in 2012.
“The firm has grown significantly over the past 11 years, and it has been a pleasure to have been a part of that evolution.
“Becoming part of Translink Corporate Finance has been transformational in extending our global reach and service capabilities, which brings with it much wider scope for opportunities, both domestically and internationally.
“During my time at BHP Corporate Finance, now Translink, I have gained extensive experience of working across multiple sectors on behalf of local and global businesses, and I’m looking forward to continuing to provide my expertise for our clients.
“I’ve been fortunate to be able to work closely with highly successful entrepreneurs throughout my career, who I have advised and supported through various transactions”
In 2021, Matt led the team that completed the sale of The Label Makers to the Spanish headquartered multi-national Printeos S.A. This was Matt’s first opportunity of collaborating with Translink Corporate Finance global colleagues and he notes the deal as a career highlight.
He said: “Despite the challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic presented to completing cross-border deals, our flexible and proactive approach meant that we were able to yield a great deal of interest from a global buyer population, securing an exceptional outcome for our client.”
Matt adds: “I’m looking forward to being a part of Translink Corporate Finance’s continued evolution and to leverage my experience to support and empower the career development of others within the team.
“We have an exceptional team dynamic. The group are proactive in not only their own development but in their desire to achieve successful outcomes for both Translink and our clients.
“As Partner, I’m excited to play a key role in the team’s future as we continue to grow on an international scale.”
Hamish Morrison, Partner at Translink Corporate Finance, said: “We’re delighted to announce Matt’s promotion to Partner. Matt has a strong background in M&A and mid-market transactions and will be a valuable addition to the Partner team.
“I have had the pleasure of working with Matt since 2008 and I’m confident that his passion, drive and commitment to providing the very best service and expertise for his clients will benefit Translink UK for years to come.
“Matt’s promotion, along with the appointment of Aaron Lowery and Ellie Jacobs to the team last month, is a clear sign of investment in the future as we continue the journey of Translink Corporate Finance in the UK.
“Matt is fully invested in Translink Corporate Finance and recognises the power of working with our international colleagues to complete cross-border deals. He’ll continue to employ his extensive knowledge and experience to the benefit of our clients, as well as the Translink team.”
