As part of our ‘Meet the Team’ blog series, we spoke to Translink Corporate Finance UK Analyst Charlotte Chaplin about her role at the firm, why she loves working here, her Translink highlights, her interests outside of work and about her reasons why she’s taking part in Translink UK’s charity skydive in July.
What is your role at Translink UK and when did you join?
I am an analyst at the firm. I joined Translink Corporate Finance in 2021 as a placement student whilst I was at university. I was fortunate enough to be offered a graduate role at Translink whilst on my placement, which I started in August 2023.
What is it about Translink UK that you love being a part of?
The team makes Translink UK an incredible place to work. Everyone is extremely supportive, which is crucial when I’m at the beginning of my career.
Can you tell us a bit more about your day-to-day job at the firm and what your responsibilities are?
My day to day varies but my daily tasks include financial analysis of company data, research projects for potential buyers and acquisition targets, business valuations including recent deal multiple research and listed company review and specific sector/industry research.
I also prepare relevant documents/reports for review by senior team members and supporting senior team members on transaction specific projects.
If you had to pick – what are your highlights and biggest achievements whilst working with Translink UK?
My biggest highlight to date would be preparing to take part in the Translink UK’s charity skydive next week. The team has worked incredibly hard to surpass our goal of raising over £5,000 for our selected charities; Mind, Candlelighters and Alzheimer’s Society.
How are you feeling about taking part in the sky dive in a few weeks’ time? Why is it important to you to raise money for the selected charities?
I’m excited to be taking part in the sky dive next week! The charities we’re supporting all have personal connections to the team so it’s amazing that we can come together and support each other and the communities that these charities do such amazing work for.

Do you have any role models and, if so, who and why?
My dad is my biggest role model – he has always thrown himself into every opportunity with such confidence, whilst always being completely himself in every situation, and I strive to do the same.
What advice would you give to your younger self when starting out in your career?
Say yes to every opportunity and push yourself out of your comfort zone – you never know what doors it could open.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I’m surrounded by an amazing group of friends which I see regularly outside of work – we love a craft evening with drinks.
What is your favourite TV series or film?
Gavin and Stacey is my comfort show – I’m looking forward to the Christmas episode this year!
What is your favourite restaurant to go to?
My housemate’s mum owns an Italian restaurant called ‘The Italian’ – she makes the best lobster ravioli I’ve ever eaten.
What/where is the best place you have ever visited and why? Where is your dream destination?
I went to a turtle conservation sanctuary in Cape Verde where I helped the turtles give birth to their eggs throughout the night, it was an amazing experience.
I’d love to be able to visit the Sistine Chapel one day to see Michelangelo’s work. The Creation of Adam is my favourite painting so I would love to be able to see it in person.
