Read on to find out more about Jovinda, his role, and what drives him in the world of corporate finance.
Can you describe your role and the key responsibilities that come with it?
I work as an Executive within the Corporate Finance team, primarily supporting buy-side and sell-side transactions across a range of sectors.
My role involves detailed financial analysis, preparing marketing materials such as IMs, supporting valuation work, and helping manage processes from early-stage preparation through to completion.
A big part of my job is working closely with clients to understand their business, identify value drivers, and support them through the M&A process.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
My day varies depending on the projects I am working on and their current stage.
A typical day is a mix of financial analysis, preparing deal materials, and supporting clients through a deal’s due diligence. No two days are the same, which keeps the role both interesting and challenging.
What’s the one must-do activity that you do every day?
I always start my day by reviewing my task list and prioritising what needs to be achieved. Corporate finance work often evolves quickly, so taking ten minutes each morning to prioritise helps me stay organised and ensures I deliver what the team and our clients need.
What are some of the most challenging aspects of your job, and how do you overcome them?
Managing shifting deadlines and balancing multiple workstreams can be challenging. Deals move fast, and priorities can change quickly based on client needs. I’ve learned to stay adaptable, communicate clearly with the team, and proactively flag issues early. Good organisation and asking the right questions at the right time also make a big difference.
Can you share an example of a successful project or deal that you’ve worked on?
One of the key projects I worked on was the transaction to secure investment for Turners Accident Repair from Sun European Partners. I was closely involved from the initial kick-off meeting right through to completion.
Turners were a fantastic client to work with, and it was incredibly rewarding to support them throughout the process and help deliver a great outcome for the business.
Are you seeing any trends emerging within the corporate finance landscape?
We’re continuing to see strong interest from private equity, particularly in businesses with scalable models or recurring revenue.
There’s also a noticeable focus on technology-enabled services and companies that demonstrate resilience or adaptability in changing economic conditions. Buyers are becoming more selective, but high-quality businesses are still attracting significant attention.
What motivates you most in your work, and how do you ensure you continue to deliver value to your clients?
What motivates me most is being able to make a real difference, both within the deal team and for the clients we support. Delivering a high-quality service and knowing that our work contributes to major milestones for business owners is incredibly rewarding.
I also stay motivated by continuously developing my skills and learning from each project, which helps me bring fresh insight and value to every new engagement.
What skills or qualities do you think are essential for someone to excel in corporate finance advisory?
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly are essential. You also need resilience, commercial understanding, and the confidence to work in fast-paced environments.
Being proactive and having a genuine interest in businesses and how they create value is also key.
What advice would you give to trainees starting out?
Ask as many questions as you can and get involved in as many areas of a deal as possible. Corporate finance exposes you to a wide range of skills, and the more you put yourself forward, the faster you’ll develop.
What’s one thing you learned in school that has stuck with you?
To stay resilient. No matter the challenge, approaching it with perseverance and a positive mindset always helps you move forward. That mindset has definitely carried over into my career.
Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time? Do you have any hobbies or interests?
Outside of work, I love watching and playing sports, especially football. I’ve also recently started playing padel, which I’m really enjoying.
What’s the biggest thing on your bucket list?
To spend a few months living in a completely different country, not just travelling, but fully immersing myself in another culture and experiencing day-to-day life somewhere new.
